Match report Jordan Palmer-Goddard powers Portsmouth to quarter final stage of Hampshire Cup.

Portsmouth U17 team have moved into the quater finals of the Hampshire Cup with a 38 run victory in a hard fought match at Trojans last night (Wednesday 5th June 2013).
Having won the toss Will Smitherman elected to bat and he got the team off to a brisk start putting on 26 for the first wicket with the returning Henry Farrant inside 3 overs. Jack Marston (11) and Alex Hammond (4) fell cheaply and at halfway (10 overs) the score was only 61 for 4. Ethan Randell (16) added some impetus to the innings along with a powerful and match winning knock from Jordan Palmer-Goddard (53*). Dom Wood (26*) joined Jordan in the 13th over and they added a further 72 runs in just 7 overs with some thumping boundaries and some aggressive running, this brought the innings to a close at 154 for 5.
Tom Kershaw (4-0-18-0)and Andy Marston (4-1-4-1) bowled the first 8 overs at Trojans and squeeed the life out of them, after 8 overs the score had crawled to 22 for 1.
Dom Northey bowled a tidy 4 over spell along with Jack, both took one wicket. Will bowled a tight 2 overs at the death and he was brilliantly supprted by Dan Wallis (on debut for U17s) who took 1 for 7 (and also fielded superbly well). Trojans innings came to a close at 116 for 4.
