Batting first on a slow soft wicket Portsmouth got off to a flyer with Henry Farrant batting well and soon retiring unbeaten on 20. Once he had gone the innings lost some momentum and boundaries were hard ti find. Tom Kershaw batted well for an unbeaten 24 and he was well supported by Jack Marston (13) and a late flurry from Teddy Ellis and Will Smitherman.
Defending 100 Portsmouth ensured that everyone bowled and wickets came to Farrant (1), Kershaw (2), Marston J (3), Marston A (1) and Harry Selway (2). Will Smitherman rounded off a good match (runs & a catch) by bowling their last player. Barnabus Whiting batted well for Burridge with an unbeaten 19.
