Match report Under the Captaincy of Edward and having won the toss Portsmouth U9As took to the field on an overcast evening. Despite a good start from Henry and Thomas, who both took a brace of wickets each, this promising start was eroded due to some excellent batting by Sarisbury who scored quickly in the middle part of the game. Portsmouth's efforts were not helped by three dropped catches, because of miscommunication, which is something Coach Doug will work on before the next game, but this should not obscure some great individual performances in the field by the boys. At the end of the innings Sarisbury finished with an impressive 112 for six.

After a quick change around the boys went into bat. A slow start, due to some accurate and fast bowling meant Portsmouth needed to produce something special in the final few overs, which we got with brilliant performances from Ethan and Edward who top scored with 25 & 16 respectively. Many of these were quick runs between the wickets made possible because of good calling and backing up (Coach Doug was very pleased with this). With the game on a knife edge everything came down to the final over. Despite the boys scoring 10 runs off the over, an early run out meant we lost the game by a nail biting three runs. Well done boys, 110 per cent from everyone.

Next week sees the boys take on the U9Cs.
