Match report We always get a good game from Burridge. They play to win but are a fair with their play. We won our opening match of the season against them. Tonight they had the rub of the green, not that it was very green on the parched Savanna which we know as our beloved St Helens Fields.

Again, as on Sunday, we had The Stadium to ourselves so took the opportunity to use a proper grass wicket and revealed the Flashy Electronic Scoreboard to show our progress. The result was not as tight as our previous game though.

We were battling two opponents today. One wielding bats and balls and another, a FlashMob dancing / music event at the adjacent pitch and putt. The Bopping, Bouncing, Brightly Coloured Bodies and Funky Sounds took away our focus. Mis-fielding and expensive over throws cost us at least 30 runs - enough to get us close to the Burridge score and make a game of it.

There were of course highlights to celebrate. Here are a few to cherish.

Runs and 4's from George D and Jack H, both equal top scoring tonight, well done boys.

Adam, again sharp behind the stumps and encouraging his team throughout the game - that's the job of a wicket keeper Adam. Good Work.

Will B-H, Archie, Jake, Bethan and Will H all Retiring Not Out - Thank You, it really does help your team.

Really good bowling from George D - just 6 runs off your bowing today Georgie Boy - they just can't get their bat onto your pacey pitches, and no wides or no balls from you either.... Trundling in again from Bembridge on the IoW.

Jake B taking 2 wickets and Will H, Ben, Archie and Jack H all contributing 1 each.

The Catching Crew today were Jack and Ben. Jack's catch relatively easy, but none the less he had to hold onto it which of course he did. Never doubted you for one moment. Safe Hands Jacko.
Ben's sticky fingers reaching high to pick one out of the sky, one handed at full stretch rocketing to the boundary - it was one highlight of the game for us.

The relentless FlashMob continued till the last knock of the game, finally ceasing their activity just as the light was fading.

MoTM - Curly Wurlies deferred tonight due to the relentless heat and melted nature of the 9 inch chocolate and caramel delight.
