Under 11A league - Portsmouth (89 for 1) beat Hambledon (85 for 5) by 9 wickets.
Portsmouth used eight bowlers and they all bowled economically and consistently. Hambledon's openers batted well and both reached 20 and retirement; it was into over 12 before Andrew Marston (3-1-9-1) took the first wicket. Despite wickets in hand and the openers retiring Hambledon were unable to accelerate the scoring. Harry Selway (2-0-12-2) and Jack Marston (3-1-4-1) bowled well at the death and restricted the opposition to 85 for 5.
Portsmouth lost an early wicket when Charlie Selway was run out for just a single. Henry Farrant (23) and Tom Kershaw (23) then took control of the match with a fluent partnership; they were well supported by Teddy Ellis (20)who dealt almost exclusively in boundaries. Toby Williams hit the winning four in the 17th over to take Portsmouth home by 9 wickets with 3.2 overs to spare.
