Team Anderson Tournament Report - Submitted by Heath's Mum (Nikki Maxwell)

Match 1 : Portsmouth versus Sarisbury
Great batting match with 6 's from James and George and 4 from Charlie
Solid fielding with first wicket taken by Huw supported by a great catch from Charlie as wicket keeper.
Heath just missing out on a wicket, threw from the field to the stumps, hit the stumps but was a second too short
George made a dive and stopped a 4 - superman on a cricket pitch
Superb fielding with solid backing up every time
Final score 181 Portsmouth 145 Sarisbury

Match 2 Portsmouth versus Burridge
Nice surprise with Burridge having a team when we were unsure if we would play them or not
George kindly agreed to sit this one out so our super sub Harry could play.
Portsmouth went into field first.
This match saw super sub Harry come on. He opened up the bowling with some lovely accurate balls, and nearly caught one of his own balls. What a way to open the match!
The next ball just slipped through his fingers. Huw was next to bowl and another good piece of fielding by Harry stopping a 4.
First wicket taken from Huw with a superb catch from James
Fielding kept ticking over nicely with a maiden over by Heath
James and Charlie finished off nicely with a wicket each and another great piece of backing up kept the opposition runs under control.
We then went into bat, and what an innings it was.
Charlie stole the show with 6 fours, James hit a six and 2 fours and Harry with a 4 to take the final score to 178 Portsmouth and 106 to Burridge

Match 3 Portsmouth versus Locksheath
James kindly agreed to sit this one out so our super sub could play.
We began by fielding first. Overall this was a great team effort and although no wickets were taken (I think) we did well to keep their runs to a minimum and stopped lots of 4s.
Well done Charlie with a maiden over
Then we went into bat chasing 127.
George scored a 6 off his second ball! A little confusion - just as he and Harry were walking off, George was busy celebrating his second 6 of the day and didn't realise they were being called back on!
Huw and Monty up next and Huw gets his first 4, and was a real warrior trying to hit some high balls.
Monty went up against the tough balls and got injured so mum was there to save the day, Heath stepped in with a super medical cookie to help him feel better - seemed to do the trick!
James came on as super sub and got a 4!
Charlie and Heath up next with Charlie's trademark 4s and Heath keeping the singles topped up.
Great score- we won 167 to 127 and we're heading into the semi finals!

Semi Final against Burridge
Crunch time - we had to beat them after last weeks defeat
We were fielding first.
Heath started with a superb maiden over - this was briefly interrupted by George and his important laces. Luckily big bro was there to save the day and tie them back up again.
Huw up next, and was helped by George keeping the score low by George saving some fabulous 4s from hitting the boundary.
Up next was George and this was the bowling of the day. George took two wickets in a row and was facing the all important hat-trick, sadly it wasn't to be, but he was so close.
Later Monty came in and took another 2 wickets, one of which was against the infamous Jono Gray - great work.
We then went into bat. We picked up lots of 4s and Heath came in with his first 4 too.
Think that was everyone managing a 4 by now!
Final score 130 to 107 - we were heading for the Final!

The final - against Locks Heath
We had to move from our lucky pitch😥
We went into bat first and although we weren't on our best form there were a couple of funny moments. George clashing with the bowler as he ran to the stumps, then forgot to run later but was saved by a 4 leg bye (still don't know what that means).
Later George did his best goalie impression and dived for the line but was just run out.
Although we lost, the boys played tremendously well. Great team work, lots of fun with blue ice lollies and some near misses on the bouncy castle.
Phew..... a least we all headed home in one piece.

Team Bairstow Tournament Report - Submitted by Sam's Mum (Louise Shaw)

Under windy conditions, Portsmouth Barstow, playing their first match against Locks Heath Alex Hales, had a good start with Thomas taking a wicket. This was accompanied by some great bowling from Rory which was consistent throughout the day. However, Locks Heath rallied and managed to win.

In the second match against Burridge A, Adam took a wicket with a superb throw from distance and Joseph also took a wicket from a run out. Burridge A’s batting however was very good and the eventual semi-finalists found the boundary on numerous occasions leading to their victory.

Next up, against Lock Heath Alex Hales, Portsmouth Barstow began to work well together. Samuel scored several fours followed by some good bowling and fielding from the team. A great final over from Rory and an all round team effort secured a brilliant victory for Portsmouth by 1 run!

Finally, once more up against a strong Burridge A team, Portsmouth Barstow were working well together with good fielding from Adam and a run out by Samuel. Some super batting from Samuel secured several more fours. Following some good batting from Rowan, he also scored some useful runs. Thomas had a strong finish by scoring a fantastic wicket from a distance followed by another great wicket from Ethan. Samuel was delighted to be named man of the match, mainly due to some excellent batting.

Acknowledgement and appreciation should be given to Fiona for scoring and managing the team and William for umpiring and on field management.

Taking in to account that for some of the Portsmouth Barstow players, this was their first Tournament and their first match, they really played well. A great team effort and lovely day had by all. Good cricket boys!

Team Cook Tournament - Submitted by Lily's Dad (James Collins)

Team Cook took to their first tournament with great professionalism. Well turned out in their Sunday best for the sunshine they showed a lot of promise. Kiera and Ethan hit several boundaries each and between the stumps the pairing of Lily and Ella demonstrated excellent running skills and anticipation. Eva and William both produced tremendous throws to run out the opposition whilst Freya protected the boundary with some excellent fielding. An all round performance from Team Cook full of happy smiling faces.

Thank you to everyone who helped out on the day - Umpires, scorers, square leg stand-ins, match report writers and match fee fee collectors. Tim, Nikki, Oscar, Chris, Jeanette, Fiona, William, Louise, Jon, James, Paul, everyone for their support on the day.
