Match report There are lots of things I can say about this fixture, not least the quality of the cricket by both sides was excellent. On a gloriously hot and sunny afternoon, a slightly different looking Portsmouth A, under the captaincy of Heath, we were put into bat. Excepting to score freely on a dry and fast out field, Locks Heath bowled with real precision and even when a looser ball came in and the team looked to punish it, some brilliant fielding either limited the runs scored, or caught the ball. Special mention should go to Ethan, Darby and Reuben, whose batting has improved throughout the season and because they scored some cheeky singles due to excellent backing up. Even so the boys were restricted to 77 runs.

Knowing they had an uphill battle, we took to the field and just like our opponents produced some excellent and precise bowling taking 10 wickets and narrowly missing several more. But defending such a slender total was always going to be tough, against some solid batting. Locks Heath after there 16 overs reached 154.

What was really pleasing for both Doug and I is the progression in the boys over the last couple of months. Week after week the boys continue to look more and more like a good little team, supporting and encouraging each other.

A huge thank you to Louise Shaw for the excellent teas this week - you have set the bar very high and to Edward who agreed to score for the first time and did a brilliant job!
