Match report What makes a lost game palatable? It's always great to win but when we lose we reflect on what we did right and what needs to be improved.
Tonight we were hosted by Locks Heath on a cold Spring evening, full of expectation. Players sporting their new blue Vorwork UK Sponsored Playing Kit, Managers in their Limberline Tyres Hoodies and a Proper Score Book.
The U11A Rules said that this was 'Proper Cricket' and we all did our very best to rise to the occasion.
LH won the toss and elected to bat.
Standout bowling and fielding performances from:-
William Harrison - 2.4 overs -1 Wicket Maiden - 2 for just 16 runs and a run out as well.
George D with some excellent boundary stops - body behind the ball every time.
Charles S with a tidy 2-0-19-0.
Bethan W with a catch of the day - we all knew she would hold on to it, seen it so many times before. No Question.
Sharp wiki work from Charlie L, just 1 bye got past CL tonight.
Very tight bowling from Monty G 2-0-7-0.
Three retirements of 30 were the mainstay of the LH innings - Portsmouth managed to inflict three ducks and a couple of low scoring innings on the LH batsmen but they got to 123 for 5 off 15. Three overs short of their maximum.
Portsmouth took advantage of all their overs but the run rate was not high enough to get close to a winning score.
In response, an unfortunate run-out early on put pressure on the PCC top order.
James B steadied the ship and stroked his way to a graceful 30 retirement including 5 x 4's.
Bethan supported James with a solid 25 - again super stroke play, building in confidence.
Maya D, in her first club game for PCC looked solid and wasn't disturbed by the LH bowling attack.
MoTM Batting - James Boorah for his 30 Retirement Not Out.
MoTM Bowing - William Harrison for his 2 wickets and 1 handed flick of the ball to the non strike end leaving the LH batsman stranded outside his crease.
