Match report Wow, this match had everything and was extremely entertaining despite the worrying injuries sustained by Archie and Monty. I’m pleased to say however, that both will be fine and played their part in a fantastic victory for Portsmouth. We lost the toss and were asked to bat. After a positive start we lost three wickets for 4 runs and found ourselves 31 for 3. We managed to steady the ship and even though we continued to lose wickets we posted 143 for 8 off of our 20 overs with a huge contribution from George with his first ever 35 retired not out!

In reply I decided to start with spin and it worked, up stepped Nikhil with a wicket with his first ball and he took two more and they were 3 for 3 off 1 over. Apart from a cameo from their number 6 - Tristan who scored a rapid 24 with six 4’s - we continued to take wickets. One each for Ed, Jack, Arjun and Archie (wicket maiden) and to add to his brilliant batting, two for George and he took a catch off Nikhil’s bowling too.

As a fielding unit I would like to praise all the lads as they only conceded one bye showing how committed they were as a team to defend their total. It’s been a tough week as we have had four games in 8 days and some of the lads have played in all four matches so to end with a resounding victory against Burridge 13b’ after losing a week ago to their A team left us all with a huge smile on our faces.

Thanks to our coaches Joe and Iori, Mark and Emma for providing match teas, my lovely wife, Tracy for kit washing for the fourth time this week and thanks to all the parents who came to support the lads - it makes a massive difference to them and we look forward to seeing you again at future matches.
