Portsmouth Cricket Club - 2024 U11 Daring v Locks Heath U11C on Sun 09 Jun 2019 at 9.00am (West)
Portsmouth Cricket Club - 2024 Won by 22 runs
Match report
A solid performance from our West Team U11B's saw us win this one reasonably comfortably.
Few wickets fell for both sides and not too many scored off the bat either, nevertheless, a good all round performance from our team with little to worry about (maybe a few too many wides, so something to work on for next time, right?).
Rub-Mae was our captain today.
Portsmouth batted first and had to endure some wide balls before they could get their runs. Veer and Maya as the openers got us up to 30 by the end of their spell.
Sam S and Ruby-Mae were next in - Sam with a couple of 4's and Ruby-Mae supporting with quick singles keeping the score ticking over.
Rio and Oliver followed, again keeping the score moving along with quick singles where they could - by the 12th over, we were 72 for the loss of just 2 wickets.
William H and George D finished with a flurry, Will with a couple of 4's and George with a cheeky 2 in the last over to get us above the 100 mark.
It was Locks Heath's turn to bat - Will and George opened the bowling for Portsmouth and gave away few - George bagging a nifty caught and bowled in the second over to get us off on the right foot, dot balls and no runs for LH as we looked to apply pressure on their opening batsmen.
Maya and Oliver gave little away for their efforts and by the half way stage Locks Heath were 50 with the loss of 1 wicket.
Rio and Sam kept up the bowling attack followed by Ruby-Mae, Will and George.
The 11th over was our break through with Ruby-Mae's wicket and a Run Out from George sending the ball crashing into the Lock Heath number 6th batsmen's stumps for a run out - ball flying in from what seemed like Ventnor on the IoW, launched from deep extra cover.
George and Will finished off our bowling effort for the loss of just 10 runs to peg LH back - Dot Balls scattered across the final entries on the score sheet.
Locks Heath fell 22 short and Portsmouth won the game.
MoTM - George D for his caught and bowled, run out effort and bowling figures of 3-1-1-5 (Overs-Maidens-Wickets-Runs Conceded).
MoTM - Veer for his wicket keeping and nifty footwork - not much got passed you today.
MoTM - Sam S for his amazing fielding, stopping certain 4's which helped us win the game.
Thank you's go to George Mackenzie for umpiring and warming up the team, Emma for the super match tea, Rio's Dad, Paul who scored for the first time tonight and Bekki for collecting the match fees.
