Match report EX NIHILO NIHIL FIT

Usual service was restored as the boys travelled to the beautiful ground of Hambledon. As parents basked in the sunshine our opponents opted to bat after winning the toss. Captain Harry then set about moving his field with the military precision in preparation of the first over. The boys bowled with pace, but struggled a little with the high bounce from the pitch. Pick of the bowlers were Monty and Joesph who both took a brace, with Thomas, Charles and Edward taking a wicket each. In the field, the boys gave 110 per cent, chasing down every ball and saving a number of boundaries and restricting Hambledon to 107 for seven.

After a quick turn around the boys went out to bat. It was great to see a return to their more usual style of batting, a combination of solid shots and quick running between the wickets. The running did cost the team a couple of wickets due to some brilliant fielding by one of the Hambledon players, whose accurate throwing hit the stumps on three separate occassions from the deep. Top scorers were Heath (14), Adam (14), and Reuben (18). In total they clocked up 186 runs, for the loss of six wickets.

Huge thanks to Jack for scoring and to all the parents who cheered the boys on to victory.
