The season is now well under way with teams at all levels enjoying plenty of cricket ! Training is going really well too.
We are very pleased to be able to bring you details of another new PCC initiative to support colts and adults with scoring and umpiring. Anyone who would like to get involved with helping the club and is interested in developing new skills and enhancing their enjoyment of the game.
To introduce you to this exciting opportunity, Paul Woolf is planning a short 45min workshop on Thursday 7th July @ 6pm at the PCC cricket pavilion.

As a step to the all-round development of our colts we want to introduce them to scoring and umpiring. Relax….we do not expect them to score whole games or stand alone in the middle.
This is the plan.
We are keen that all colts from U11s upwards experience scoring and umpiring.
At each game the manager will actively ensure that each colt is given the opportunity to either score, or at the very least sit with the scorer to understand how scoring works.
In addition, we would like to ensure that colts are encouraged to stand as an umpire. The adult who would normally umpire will stand behind the colt to give them confidence and guidance on decision making.
Once they feel confident, he or she can stand in a game below his or her age group and take control of the game.
To support you, Paul will run some short and sharp sessions giving basic knowledge and officially launch the scheme. Each session will be fun, engaging and will seek to garner your interest.
The overall strategy of the club is to create a feeder system into the otherwise available training programmes that exist for both umpiring and scoring. The USP of the club’s plan is that it seeks to capture the colt at a younger age than the existing schemes and encourage them to follow up with one of the established schemes.
