Match report A brilliant and entertaining match, which saw good cricket played by both sides and showed the depth and talent in the under 9s section.

Under the captaincy of George the As won the toss and chose to field. If truth be told I think the As expected a slightly easier ride, but some excellent batting by the Cs Captain, Fraser who topped the scoring on 21, supported by Reuben, Thomas, Ben, Joseph, Owen, Viola, Alex, James, Sophia and Sam saw this development side score 145 for 13.

This was an impressive score as the As bowled well and with pace and took some excellent catches, including two by wicket keeper Edward.

After a quick turnaround, the As went into bat. Although some good fielding and bowling restricted the batting side, the extra experience showed and the As finished with 154 for 3. Ethan, Edward and Henry were the top scorers, but just like the Cs every single player contributed to the total.

On a personal note coach Doug and I were very impressed with the work rate showed by all of the boys and girls, who gave 110 per cent and they should feel proud of their performances. We hope they all had fun and we will be announcing the return match later in the month.

Many thanks to the Debbie who provided teas this week and to Cindy who took charge of the A-team shirts.

Also a big thank you to those players who normally feature in the As for playing in the Cs and passing on their expertise and experience to the younger ones.

Finally apologies that I can’t record everyone’s stats, but I can’t add more names to the team sheet, or at least I have not been shown how to.
