Match report This was a friendly match arranged to help some of our A Team players re-establish lost form, new players integrate themselves into Our Club, offer B Team players an additional game and give Liphook's newly formed U11A team an opportunity to assist with their development as well.
The Manager got lost on the way and arrived late. Sorry.
A proper grass wicket and a lovely setting put us all in a good mood though - George M warmed up the team and we got the game started.
Judith was our captain and Willow L-F was welcomed into the team as a new player, swelling the U11 squad to almost 40 players this year. James B was our Third Official, assisting George M with the umpiring.
We managed to get 10 a side out as well to maximize the opportunity.
Portsmouth batted first and we mustered a solid 119 - George D and Sam Shaw top scoring with 15 runs each. GD with a super 6 over the top of deep square leg and Sam with his trademark sweep down the leg side for 2 x well timed fours.
Our bowling was solid also with George D taking 2 wickets in a Maiden over. Joseph S and Monty also getting in on the act with one Liphook scalp each.
It was great to see Judith and Willow performing - Judith stopping certain fours at backward point and Willow bowling well in her first competitive match with PCC.
Tom L didn't give much away with dot balls scattered across his part of the score sheet and just 3 runs conceded from his 2 overs.
Adam R was, as always, chirping away behind the stumps, encouraging the team along which is always great to hear.
George B and The Shaw brothers, Joseph and Samuel all contributed to our bowling attack - Heath finishing off his spell with a Maiden Over to complete the game.
