A frenetic affair with wickets tumbling meant the hosts were 4 down after 4 due to a combination of great opposition fielding and enthusiastic single running .

Purbrook bowled and fielded well, frustrating the home team to take risks with singles and big shots galore. The upshot though, was a game full of energy and excitement, but Portsmouth faced 11 down for only 112 runs at the end of their innings.

Purbrook came out strong to bat and piled on 46 after the first 4 for only 2 down. However, the B’s showed enormous spirit and were unperturbed, evening things out with some great bowling from Jasper and Dexter who shared 3 wickets between them. The gap was closing with an excellent run out from Alex and a great catch (THE catch ) from Thomas meaning there was only 2 runs in it at the ¾ mark .

It was closer than close, and the tension was clear for the final pair of bowlers Archie and Jake who, through a combination of slow and accurate bowling, kept the final pair to only 14 runs in the final four - but more importantly picking up another 2 wickets .

A nervy game with hatful’s of chances in the field , catches, run outs and clean bowled meant a well earned victory for the hosts with a narrow margin of 11 runs . Well played Bees.
