Match report Batting first on a lovely evening the visitors got off to a decent start with some lovely shots from George and Jasper who both managed to put the loose ball away for some fine looking fours , 35-1. Next up Jake and Alex who kept the scoreboard ticking over with some good running . Alex really getting his eye in on his last over for 3 x 4’s. The score at drinks (8 overs ) 68- 1.

Up next Milo and Jamie who faced some really good bowling with 15 dot balls from 24 . The home team sensing some pressure brought on their best bowler to take a 3 wicket maiden in the 12th - (79-4).

The final pair of Vi and James Newman up next who, in typical style , played some great cricket shots. They were both clearly too hot to run and in the mood for boundaries with ten fours between in them in a glorious stand of 58.

Vi being unlucky to get run out at the bowlers end from a James Newman tracer bullet straight back down the track and a deflection from the bowlers hand onto the stumps . In fairness to the bowler (Finlay ) it was a very brave effort at a catch and so probably deserved something for it (other than sore fingers ).


A really good steady innings build with some power to finish off 133-5.

I swear I saw some people donning jumpers/hoodies during the break . The temperature finally breaking below 20 degrees. Personally, speaking the goosebumps felt lovely .

The relief was evident in the visitors energy levels who came out strong and energetic. James and George opening the bowling giving only 15 runs away for 2 wickets with some fast hostile balls backed up by great keeping from Vi who was giving nothing away . A solid start and really well bowled .

Next up Jake and Alex dropping the pace and bowling like they were the final death bowlers of a 20/20 with 17 dot balls, 6 runs and 4 wickets . One of the wickets being and excellent catch from Alex at cover point .


The score at halfway - 21-6 ,the home team were clearly struggling and things didn’t get much easier with Milo and Jamie both also bowling well giving only 18 from 4 overs with a wicket for Jamie first ball.

The hosts had saved their best batters until last who had to have a crack at a run chase taking on Jasper George and Alex. Although the pair bowled well Gosport added 44 for the last four with a really tight over from George (5) making sure the total was beyond reach .

The final score 83-8

It was a must win game in terms of the league and the team didn’t disappoint . Thank you to the supporting other non B team players , George , James , Vi , Jasper for stepping in and helping us throughout this game and indeed the season.


A really excellent performance all round . It’s really encouraging to see the players shine and grow in confidence over the last few games . They are clearly watching each other’s performances and learning and growing in both ability and energy levels but most importantly, enjoying their cricket.

A second game planned next Weds will decide the League .
