Portsmouth lost the toss and were put into bat and the opening pair of Tom and Alex got off to a great start scoring 27-0 off the first four overs.

However, Petersfield came back strong taking 2 wickets in 2 balls in the sixth over . A big ninth over with some huge shots from Dexter helped the home team reach 86-3 at the halfway mark. The visitors bowled tight only allowing 12 runs off the next two overs. Shot of the day surely had to go to Alana on debut for the A’s, who effortlessly pulled a perfectly timed 6 over square leg off of her first ball, with a similar shot going for 4 off her second. James and Jasper finished the innings with flourish adding a well-earned 37 for the final four with the hosts reaching a respectable total of 159-4.

Some great opening batting got Petersfield off to a flyer scoring 34 runs for 1 wicket from the opening four overs . However, Portsmouth kept plugging away with wickets steadily falling from a combination of alert fielding and tight bowling. Wickets tumbled regularly and some tight bowling from James. Jasper, Alex and Tom added only 11 runs for 3 wickets (80-6). Just when things looked like they couldn’t get any tighter , Jude and George both impressively stepped up and bowled back-to-back maidens followed by Xavier and Dexter conceding only 3 runs between them from their overs. Petersfield went big to try and pull thing back scoring 39 off their final four , but at 96-9 this was well short of the mark.

Final score -Portsmouth 159-4 , Petersfield 96-9
