Match report An enthralling opening game of the season over at a cold and windy Havant Park. Having won the toss we batted first and although the top order struggled against some strong bowling, Jack and Gio steadied the ship with superb knocks of 40 (ret not out) and 31 not out respectively. Shot of the innings to Rohan with a classic cut for 4 runs! Strict but fair umpiring led to a high number of wides from both sides and the signal for a free hit off a no ball was very amusing (thanks Paddy!!).
Havant got off to a quick start during their innings but well done to everyone for maintaining focus and staying in the game, including an excellent double wicket maiden from Matthew and a great catch by Charlie. It looked like we might gain the win as the rain came down and we fought back with some strong bowling from Joe and Joseph, but it wasn't to be this time. Credit to Scarlett who hit a cracking 4 off the last ball of our innings and took a wicket, and also to George who was unlucky not to get a bat but stepped up to bowl early in the innings.
On to the next game in what promises to be an exciting season!
