So our fifth league game and a new look side under the captaincy of William took to the field against Liphook. Opening the batting were Charles and Monty, who got the team off to a flying start with plenty of runs from the bat, but doubled this with some intelligent running. Next up Joseph and William who continued to score freely with a series of textbook shots. Then Max and George, who faced some accurate bowling, but defended their wickets expertly. Coming to the crease Harry and Adam stepped on the gas before Darby and Edward finished our innings with some aggressive shots and a slew of boundaries. At the end of the 20 overs, the boys had racked up 181 runs. Top scorers were Charles (16), Joseph and Harry (12 each) and Edward (33).

After a quick change around, the boys took to the field and produced their best performance to date. Fast and accurate bowling was backed up by determined fielding, good backing up and accurate throwing, which restricted our opponents to 142. In total the boys took 10 wickets, pushing the boy’s score to 231. Pick of the bowlers were Charles who took four wickets and Joseph two.

Special mention to Adam, who was brilliant behind the stumps and has over the season grown in the role of wicketkeeper and Ruby, who kindly played for Liphook.

Man of the match went to Edward for his top score of 33.
