Having consulted the Met Office, Weather Channel, even Glyn's piece of old seaweed, on Sunday we were finally able to get a game on at Liphook's picturesque Stedham ground. Under the Captaincy of Harry Wallace and playing a scratch side which included 2 under nines we elected to bowl first. It was a good toss to win as batting conditions were very challenging with a damp pitch and some uneven bounce. Even so, our bowling attack produced a series of very tight overs, getting the ball in exactly the right place to spit out of the pitch. Well done to Edward for a three wicket haul. The good bowling was matched in the field with some outstanding stops (well done Aston and James) and catches. Behind the stumps, making his U13 & wicket keeping debut was Sam T who got a stumping to complete a solid performance. A quick turnaround as the threat of rain was ever present and we were ready to bat. A steady start by the opening pair of Harry and Maya came to an abrupt end when Harry was run out bringing in Edward. With the pitch drying and the outfield picking up a couple of boundaries helped to ease the team to their target. I hope that we will have a more regular looking team for pour next game on Sunday, but it was an excellent performance to open the season with. Well done everyone.
