Portsmouth Cricket Club - 2024 Won by 5 runs

Match report Who said Cricket is Boring? Not I, and if you had been in the crowd today you would have agreed with me.
The match was entertaining and gripping to the end with both sides evenly balanced and both on to snatch victory in the last over.
It was a slightly later Sunday morning start for us today - Back to Back games on the small Astro with the U11B East team who were earlier triumphant against Petersfield.
Fareham won the toss and elected to bat first.
A blistering start for them with a 3 off the first and a 6 off the last ball of the opening over.....Ooo err.
By the 4th over Fareham were 36 for 1, Evie having knocked over the openers middle stump from it's upright position.
Ruby-Mae got the next wicket to complete a brace for Girl Power and get PCC back on track.
Memories of Havant Away last year when Harry W came to pitch today, trundling in at a snail like pace and taking 2wkts in 2 balls, whipping his wrist sending the ball straight as a die and pitching up, crashing the number Fareham 3 and 4 batsmen's middle stumps, bails flying.
No Hattrick this time for Harry but so very close. Dot ball next then a Run Out - so a very good 7th over for PCC with 5wkts down and Fareham on the rocks.
Oliver H bowled well in his first game for PCC and kept Fareham pegged back, good job Oli.
William and Alex B-H were next up - Alex with a Maiden Over and Will with a run out.
Harry and Maya finished off the bowling with Fareham posting 114 for 6 off their 16 overs.
PCC started their innings on 30 (6 wickets down and 5 runs for every Fareham wicket taken).
Maya and Adam opened and by over 4 we were 53 for 1. Maya lofting a super 6 over the crowd - her first ever for Portsmouth.
Will B-H and Evie partnered and got the score up to 81 with Will's trademark quick running, making his partner work hard, nicking singles and byes where they could and keeping the score ticking over nicely.
Evie with some great calling - NO and the hand signal as well. A perfect paring and great to watch.
Oliver and Ruby-Mae were next up - RM with a super 4 runs to the boundary, through square leg. Oliver backing up and also nicking quick singles and byes where he could - good running guys.
With the score on 99, we needed 31 off the final 4 overs to win the match. Doeable?
Harry and Alex proceeded to thump 3 sixes plus 2x4's and a cheeky single off the last ball which, combined with a couple of wides and a bye won us the game by 4 runs.
Nail biting stuff and a great win for Portsmouth.
PoM goes to Harry W and Alex B-H for their all round performance and entertaining finish.
