Match report Our return match against Locks Heath and an improvement on our last visit.
More runs scored and at a faster rate, a lower number of extras given away and a smaller loss - we just couldn't get their top order out.
Locks Heath hosted this game due to our home fixture clashing with a University match at St Helen's this week.
LH batted first with 4 of their top order scoring and retiring on 30 runs each - most of the LH runs were 4's, struck so hard an U19 player would have had difficulty stopping the ball whizzing across the boundary rope, leaving us a big hill to climb.
On the whole, our bowling was straight and our fielding good, LH were aggressive and made hay whilst the sun shone.
As wiki, Charlie L was lively and not much got passed him, scurrying around and alert, taking returns to the stumps well.
A run out and a wicket from Bethan and a catch from Ben off James B's spin were the highlights of of our bowling and fielding performance. Bethan and James posting the same bowling figures 3-0-24-1. Maya a tight 3-0-16-0 and Ben a solid 2-0-15-0 (no wides or no balls).
Highlights from our batting innings were Charlie and Bethan's 30's (and retirements) - super shots to the offside, driving into space, splitting fielders and a 6 from Charlie to entertain the crowd.
It was pleasing to see George D get a score (15 and 3x4's) with James, Heath, Ben, Monty and Maya all chipping in with runs to help their team progress - there were no Ducks this week, which again shows progress against the last time we ventured here.
We didn't manage to bat our innings, falling 1 over short following the dismissal of our last batsman and last man standing, run out on the last ball of over 17.
PoM went to Bethan for her all round effort and Charlie for his batting and wiki performance.
