Match report On a glorious bank holiday Monday, the U9As faced Hambledon, in their first game of the season. The new look team, under the rotating captaincy of Shyun won the toss and decide to field. Some lively bowling and good fielding restricted the visitors to just 93 for 11. Of particular note were Darby’s brilliant one handed effort and Ethan and Edward who both took catches while bowling. Edward, Ethan and Shyun tied for top wicket takers with an excellent brace each.

After a short interval, Portsmouth went into bat. Despite a lack of match practice, all the batsmen scored freely and were helped by some lose bowling from Hambledon. After 8 overs Portsmouth had notched up 123 from the bat and lost just three wickets. Helping us to reach this total were a slew of quick singles and some impressive boundaries. Pick of the batsmen were Henry, William and Joseph.

So a good performance all round, with our next game away at Locks Heath on Friday 18th.
