Match report Under the Captaincy of Ethan, the U9As travelled to Locks Heath. Facing a strong side, which included a significant contingent of District players, Portsmouth lost the toss and were put into bat. The boys batted well, with a number of very impressive boundaries and some strong defensive play. However a couple of momentary lapses as players looked to score quick singles led to three run outs. Top scorers were Henry (14) and Ethan (11).

Defending a smallish total the boys gave 110 per cent in the field. Particularly pleasing was the accurate bowling, a determination not to give away any extras and the backing up, which we had previously practiced. Top bowlers were Edward (5 for 2) and Heath (3 for 0).

Although Locks Heath passed our total with a number of overs to spare, the boys continued to battle right to the end.
