Match report A really tight game with both teams fielding some relatively new players .

Portsmouth lost the toss and were asked to bat first. It was quiet a sedate start due to a fair few wides. The batting really didn't get started until the 9 -11th when Seb managed to find the boundary a few times scoring an innings high score of 18 not out. The final inning score was 106 - 4.

Although a modest total the home side fielded really well to begin with taking regular wickets . A great run out from Amelia and Eddie on the boundary a C&B from Eddie and 2 clean bowled. At the half way mark Portsmouth looked in a relatively healthy position. However Petersfield had clearly talked pre match about taking on the field and pushed really hard to run our wides. This racked up considerably with 3 runs being taken for every wide. The excitement continued until the last over with only 6 required for Petersfield to win which they chipped off confidently.

Although we were able to take regular wickets , towards the end of the match we really took our eye off the ball with the fielding and weren't able to think on our feet on how to stop the singles from wides. A point to note for future games about changing things up and moving the field around to plug gaps. However Petersfield played this tactic really well though and we should learn from their aggressive push to take on the fielders and get cheap runs. A really good effort from 2 new wickies and unlucky to have not just scraped a win.
