PCC vs St Cross away
It was a lovely sunny day and Emily’s Emeralds drove up to leafy St Cross. Short by one we knew we were against a tough team. It was a mixed feeling knowing this was potentially our last game for the original hustler – Shayna Chikhla, who has chosen to only do a 3 year course at uni – how inconsiderate!

Emily lost the toss – we thought this might be a good sign…. Lauren and Neev went in to open and were in for a few overs before Lauren was unfortunately caught out. Neev lasted longer and Shayna came in to be top scorer of 26 with four 4s. Well played Shayna.

We sadly didn’t last long and were all out for 49. Hey, that’s life and that’s cricket…

Nice tea, as ever.

At that point the scorer turned over the page to discover the book had run out! That was an interesting moment. Luckily there was a spare little book in the bag with the SMALLEST SQUARES IN THE WORLD to score in. Evie and Shayna to open, their last fast and spin combo. Shayna managed to get 2 wickets in her first over, nice, in fact she got the 3 wickets for the match. Despite valiant efforts it sadly didn’t take long for them to get to the target of 50 and the match was done. Good try ladies, we can’t win them all.

The one thing to celebrate however is that Portsmouth ladies have played so many matches we have finished our first score book!! 41 matches, well played all!!
