Match report Finally, the sun made its long overdue appearance at St Helens and announced that “Summer is here and its gonna be a scorcher “ .
The Bees opened the fielding with some very tight bowling from Amelia and Jake giving away only one wide from their four overs and nothing off the bat. Maiden overs are a rare thing, so it was encouraging to see Jake get his fourth on the trot.
Burridge fought back well though and stepped up the pace, but additional good tight bowling and fielding kept the visitors to a modest score with a loss of 5 wickets. Jasper being unlucky at the death for a no ball wicket to deny him 2 on the trot – Third umpire ?!!!

Portsmouth came out to bat with some huge shot selections from Dexter who clearly meant business! Some good opening bowling from Burridge meaning the home team couldn’t really get away and were 3 wickets down after 4 .
There was definitely an air of caution in terms of single running in the middle overs . The memories of recent “run -outs “ or the heat perhaps? meant we didn’t really capitalise on byes, or push the visitors fielding. However, Louis ramped up the pace with some excellent shots paving the way for Xavier and Jasper to play a free innings against some really good Burridge bowling to get Portsmouth over the line.

A great performance but probably tighter in terms of score than it needed to be with our hesitancy to take singles and keep the score board ticking over . Well played Bees - Carl
