Match report After Ricks heroics with the line marker the game was moved to a new grass wicket, as close as you can get to the road without sitting in the bike lane . Portsmouth won the toss and elected to field, starting off really well restricting the visitors to 25-2 after the first four overs with Jasper really finding his line in his second with 2 wickets. The visitors struggled throughout the middle overs to get bat on ball and some great bowling by Archie supported by Owen taking 5 wickets in four overs. Well done Archie for a great 3 for 6 and a good run out. Petersfield came back strong in their final four taking quick singles and a couple of boundaries however and posted a modest 98-9.

In reply the hosts started really well without the loss of any wickets , however they never really got going with the bat meaning once again extras was the highest scorer. The bowling rotation worked well for Petersfield and wickets started to tumble in the 2nd half of the innings and the runs really dried up. This left Jake and Charlie needing a massive 40 from the last four overs which sadly was a step too far. Its commendable that they never gave up however and looked to get the quick singles even at the expense of a couple of (emotional) run outs .

A reversal of fortune from the Waterlooville game which underlines the importance of tight fielding to restrict the singles , and getting bat on ball.
