Match report Hi all, Tom as stand in manager for Pete here. A bit of an odd match this one - I was very surprised to find out we'd won at the end of it! Put in to bat, Portsmouth were gifted extras by Hambledon but we struggled to hit runs off the bat for much of our innings, aside from Harry taking their bowling through midwicket; until our last pair hit 49 of them: Xavier was on fire, smashing the bowling all over the place including a big six (upwind!). Importantly, we hadn't lost many wickets at 122-4.

In reply, Hambledon ran hard and each pair scored strongly, including an all-run 6 off Finlay...we really need to work on our backing up (and knowing when to hold on to the ball). But there were vital stops on the boundary by a number of players - Hadley a ball magnet at midwicket saving at least 10 runs Charlie at full stretch, strained groin and all, at fine leg, and Harry at deep extra cover. Coming into the last 3 overs, Hambledon were 113-2 - leading the match if they didn't lose another wicket. But over the next 3 overs, Portsmouth took 6 wickets for 18 runs, James taking 4-7, with another 2 run outs, and Portsmouth finished unexpected winners by just 11 runs.
