Match report A game played in really good spirit at St Helens. James won the toss and put Petersfield in under a bit of cloud. Given the lightning pace of the outfield, Portsmouth started well, restricting Petersfield, with James, Muhammad and Archie taking wickets at the top of the order. From there, Petersfield started to accelerate, despite Portsmouth chipping away with wickets for Finlay (a good diving catch by James) and run outs for James and Jasper. Portsmouth managed to bowl Petersfield out in the last over, Owen taking the last wicket.

Our reply started strongly, Muhammed taking on the bowling before he was bowled, and Jasper and James sharing a partnership of 68 off 34 balls, hitting 11 fours between them. When both had retired just after the 10 over mark, we needed about 40 runs off 9 overs. Unfortunately we rather subsided from that point, with Archie run out, Owen bowled first ball, and Finley LBW. We ended up about 20 runs short, with 6 overs still in the bank.

Two things we'll need to work on: we gave away too many runs in misfields - some through the want of a long barrier; and we need to work on occupying the crease - keeping good balls out and punishing the bad balls.
