Match report It was a gloriously sunny day in north Hants, once we got there – it was miles away! Very picturesque journey though.

The team arrived and warmed up, literally, in the sun. Izzy offered to be wickie and managed to get a facial injury in the warm up but she is hard as nails and continued in the role – thanks Izzy!
Emily won the toss! I did wonder if this might be a bad omen as the team routinely don’t but we waited to see. Portsmouth chose to bowl first, fast and spin Evie and Shayna to start.
Eversley had a very strong team but Shayna managed to get the first wicket, bowled and caught in the 4th over, a good sign. Emily bowled third and partnered with our old favourite Liv, who had kindly joined us again, travelling from London to play – was lovely to see you again Liv!! Shayna took the next wicket in the 6th over as a wicket maiden but then trying to get their steadfast player out was a challenge. Our fielders were amazing, Hila (welcome to the team Hila 😊) and Rosie stopping boundaries and turning them into 1s and 2s instead. It took a while but Isla stepped into the crease and got the third wicket in the 25th over as a wicket maiden, nice one Isla! Not to be outdone Evie came back in to bowl her final overs and prevented their star striker getting to 50 by bowling her out. Rosie and Scarlett bowled but the best economy however goes to Jo F with her bowling debut ( as far as I can tell from scrolling through the book!), 1 over 3 runs and 1 wicket – awesome! We were so impressed (and Jo was a little stunned!) The opposition had 152 in the 35 overs for us to chase – quite a challenge in the, by then, sweltering sunshine.

It was our turn to bat. Out stepped Scarlett and Shayna to open, Scarlett was very unlucky being bowled out in the 1st over, but saying that the bowler that bowled her did get 4 wickets by the end of the game so she was quite good! Izzy stepped in, then Shayna out and Evie in. Evie managed to get the one 4 of the match and did her traditional hop skip and dance on the wicket to celebrate (got to love it!) followed shortly after with LBW, never mind Evie. Izzy and Emily kept up a good partnership but getting the runs was difficult and their opposition bowlers were slightly unpredictable, rotating between no balls, wides and then wickets. One over was wicket, wide, wide, wicket! Everyone batted but we were all out for 46. That’s life ladies, last week Eversley had scored over 400 against the opposition so we’ll count ourselves as getting off lightly! We may not have won but Emily’s Emeralds still shone in the sun 😊.
