Promotion chasing Ropley racked up 266 for 9 after electing to make first use of a dry Drayton Park surface and parched outfield

Tom Stroud (34) and Rait (68) set a solid base before Charles Carey (75 in 53 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes) took a liking to the home attack in an explosive knock

Gray and the dependable Marston grabbed two wickets each and Bailey (3 for 69) mopped up later on as the home side also donated 46 extras

Despite breezy 20s from Sen and Awan, Armitage (3 for 38) backed by braces from Hughes and Josh Stroud reduced Portsmouth to 77 for 6

First Thompson (21) and Coltman (11), then Marston (28) and Wiseman (20) who added 51 for the last wicket, dug in to earn valuable bonus points as Ropley ran out winners by 93 runs
