Ed Thompson and the evergreen Marston managed to stem the flow to some degree, and James Vick claimed 2 wickets on debut as the home side racked up 313 for 3 which included 42 extras

Higginson and Thompson set off rapidly in pursuit but Gibson (3 for 47) and two wickets apiece from Barlow and Bartlett prompted the visitors to slump to 122 for 7

Bailey (52 in 50 balls with 12 fours) made his first fifty since batting above an England international in 1999 while Marston's run a ball unbeaten 44, his second highest score for the club on Play-Cricket, propelled the visitors to maximum batting points but 106 runs adrift
