Match report 4s SHORT OF RUNS AGAINST HIGH FLYING ST CROSS

The 4s found themselves short of runs again in a 7 wicket defeat to St Cross 5ths at a sunny Drayton Park.

Their varied attack of Wilson, Kidd, Arunan and Exley reduced the hosts to 58 for 6 in the 25th over after inviting them to bat.

Veterans Simon Jones and Tim Bailey (34) added 62 for the 7th wicket as Portsmouth hit 55 from the last 6 overs to close on 132 for 8.

Jones, returning after missing the first half of the season due to injury, dug in to end unbeaten on 61 from 109 balls (8 fours and a six).

Zia Sahak (1 for 18) bowled impeccably, deservedly bowling Leather in the final over of his spell.

But fellow opener Punnett successfully picked his own, ending on 52 not out with 8 boundaries as the Winchester side romped home as early as the 24th over.

Portsmouth 5 points, St Cross Symondians 23 points.
