Match report On a Cloudy, almost spitting with rain morning we wondered if the forecast for rain would scupper our match with Hursley, joint top of the league with us. Top of the Table clash.

With Hursley not being sure if they could field 7 or 8 players it was a bit annoying as we had 10 available, At the last minute Hursley had 9 and we'd let 3 or 4 Ladies off for the weekend, finding ourselves short for for a very important game.

Non the less we arrived and eagerly warmed up whilst Emily lost the toss, Hursley electing to have a bat.

Rosie Nelson and Abi Bennett made their Portsmouth Ladies - Love to Bat Debut's and we had a decent team. So it transpired with some very tight bowling from our opening bowlers Maya 4 overs 17 - 1 and Emily 5 overs 4 -1. Emily made the breakthrough dismissing the dangerous Kesia for only 1. The run rate was pretty slow as we fielded well and kept high levels of energy in the field, Darcey, Emily, Lauren, Jo and Abi keeping up the chatter. All the girls played their part with some insane fielding and not 1 dropped catch. Just as the runs were flowing more frequently Lauren made the break through with the vital wicket of Berry (20) and ending with figures of 4.5 overs 13 runs for 4 wickets!! Wickets too for Maya and Ruby Mae plus some tight bowling from Rosie and Olivia, great fielding Abi, Wicket Keeping Jo Chan and some chirpy Banter and Hursley were all out for 62-8 wickets.

So a simple target 63 to win. Darcey and Jo opened the batting and we lost Jo early on. Emily (10) joined Darcey and between them they upped the run tempo. Emily like Jo getting caught playing a half shot, fell and the run rate dropped, Maya came in and was bowled, leaving Darcey (37 Not Out) and Lauren with the help of extras to run down the target and Portsmouth Ladies won comfortably.

So Leading Ladies of a great team win Lauren (Bowling) and Darcey (Batting)

An Excellent result and so Portsmouth Ladies are now top of the Div 3 Hampshire Women League. Onto Redlynch away next Sunday.
