Match report T’was a balmy Caribbean afternoon, only missing the palm trees and rum to complete the image. It was Dani’s birthday and she decided to celebrate by winning the toss (I know! Was it going to be a bad omen??) and decided to put the opposition team in to bat first. We started well with opening bowler, Maya, getting an early wicket in her first over, bowled and caught, nice one! It took a few more overs before the next wicket fell but once the 2nd wicket went the rest fell fast and furious. Lauren had 2 spectacular maiden wicket overs, Dani took a birthday wicket, Milly took 2 and Immy, not wanting to miss out took 3, her last in a maiden over to just really shine. Abi had returned to the team (welcome back Abi!) and as needed, took the final wicket, celebrating for all to hear 😊. Along with really tight wicket keeping by Florie, limiting byes and catching one wicket, and Alannah and Jo legging it around the boundary stopping 4s, the opposition were out for 76 from 23 overs, nice work team.

Tea was then taken to rehydrate and fuel up for our batting. Dani and Maya went out to open……and stayed for the duration. It started to spit with rain at about 72 runs in and the spectators were crossing their fingers for the pair to get the last 5 runs, which they duly did. A great partnership of 77, lovely pull shot for 4 from Maya (Dani did ok as well, but arguably we could have done with a couple of birthday 6’s please but we’ll let you off 😊). 77 scored off 11 overs (or 10.2 to be totally accurate).

Well played ladies in the sweltering heat. Thank you Martin for umpiring, you must have nearly died out there in the heat, Elizabeth and Sarah for teas and Stacey and Elizabeth (multi-tasker) for assistant scoring. It is fair to say, we are doing well this season, well done all!
