Match report A good toss to lose 🪙

Portsmouth enjoyed a handsome 95 run win over Hambledon 3s after racking up 238 - their sixth highest total this decade - at the most historic of venues.

Put into bat on a grassy surface, Manoj Bajia smashed an enterprising 66 in 53 balls with 11 fours and a maximum.

Stand in skipper Simon Jones took 15 balls to get of the mark but 'caught up' with 65 from 60 balls blasting two sixes and ten boundaries (including a first switch hit since debuting in 1987!).

A century stand with Tom Newman (27), 28 from Assad Sahaq and a late flurry by Adam Edwards (14*) saw the visitors post an impressive 238 for 8, with Hardman, Das and Wingham bagging two wickets apiece.

Hambledon were never really in the hunt after Toby Wehrle accounted for main batter Pete Grennan early on, while Sahaq (3 for 17) and the evergreen Rick Marston (2 for 22) reduced the home side to 64 for 7.

Keeper Toby Wingham (24) and Ben Hardman (25) offered some resistance as the Dons ended on 143 all out.
