Match report Another Sunday, another match for Dani’s Diamonds. Despite the sun shining first thing and lulling everyone into a false sense of security, it then dimmed down, but hey, no-one got sunburnt!
Off the team went to Hursley for the away match. The toss was….lost…but we love her for it 😊 and Hursley put us in to bat. Dani and Kristy opened, both in for 8 overs, Kristy’s first opening batting and she faced 26 balls, well done Kristy, really impressive! Unluckily both bowled out in the same over and Maya and Florie in next. Maya hit a great 4 but then unfortunately bowled, bad luck. Next Florie and Jo F with a great partnership, but Jo then unfortunately caught. In comes Evie, deciding to go for a bit of batting as well as bowling for a change. Quote of the day to Lauren ‘Let’s go village’ I believe it was?! To which Lauren had a go at slogging it and was bowled out – never listen to Evie Lauren, story of my life!! Evie was on fire, getting 2 consecutive 4s (for which we all loved the little dance on the wicket for the 2nd one), facing 42 balls, she was getting through her 9 cricketing lives as 2 catches were fumbled (all that village hitting!) and eventually was out for LBW. Well played Evie for a bowler, shows you can bat as well 😊.
Next in Leya (welcome to the team Leya!), then Georgia and Isla with Leya and Georgia not out at 35 overs and we had scored 120 runs. Good effort ladies.

Then in to bowl, Evie opening with Shayna, fast and spin, both showing how it’s done with maiden overs on their first overs. Well done both, both got wickets, 1 for Evie, 3 for Shayna. Not to be outdone Lauren got 2, one bowling, one LBW, Isla and Leya wanted a piece of the action as well and got 2 wickets each. Great fielding by the team, amazing throwing getting the stumps by Shayna and Lauren, shame the batter was in the crease, a stupendous stop of a 4 by Isla and a fabulous catch by Dani getting out one of their best batters. Hursley were all out for 87, victory was ours!!
Well played everyone. Florie, it was great to have you back wicket keeping (not that Dani did a bad job but lovely to have you back 😊) sorry that your injured foot got hit by a ball….
