Blustery Sunny/Cloudy day away in the New Forest, Ponies, foals and … yes Pigs wandering freely around!!

Redlynch & Hale is a very nice ground, short boundaries and a variable bounce pitch!!

We lose the toss and are put into bat!!

Darcey and Jo open and face some hostile accurate fast bowling but seem to be weathering the storm when a short one holds up and Darcey picks out the only legside fielder, caught out for 9. There’s lots of runs to be had, Darcey’s not happy!!

Maya comes in, Jo and Maya make some progress, lovely 4’s from Maya.

Redlynch bring on their spinners, and a straight one skips under Maya’s flashing bat and she’s bowled.

In comes Abi for her debut batting innings and after a slow start and a ball clipping her stumps without the bails falling off!! She’s picking up runs and ends top scorer on 23.

We lose Jo to a half shot, better to block or bang it over the fielders.

Florie now in and doing well hanging around blocking, hitting a 4 and collecting valuable extras before another under the bat bowled.

Evie after exciting batting for District again gets bowled to the spinner.

Abi falls and so it’s left to Immy and Emily to see out the last 4 overs and put on 26 valuable runs and we end with a credible 120 to defend.

Redlynch in and we set about the job of attacking them hard and staying in the game.

They match Maya and Evie’s spirited attack and create a 90 1st wicket partnership with a well deserved LBW for Abi on her debut bowling.

Some poor fielding, erratic bowling and dropped chances helped Redlynch’s openers to their total before a 2nd wicket fell to an astonishing caught and bowled by Maya ends their openers innings on 56.

Darcey had a difficult job captaining with only 8 on a batters wicket with runs being smashed everywhere.

We lose Evie after twisting her ankle chasing a ball trying valiantly to stop a four - get well soon Evie, bounce back.

So the tale is we holed out to their well held catches and got bowled by the spinners whilst they rode their luck with our dropped chances with Immy’s highly effective spinning losing out to the dropped chances.

“Leading Lady” on a poor day at the office - Abi for her batting, bowling, enthusiasm and competitiveness!! 🏏
