Match report PCC vs Ropley, home this time.
Another glorious sunny afternoon to play or watch cricket. The ladies were against Ropley again so familiar faces (well, perhaps not for the visually impaired scorer from afar!) As is now turning into tradition, Dani lost the toss (we count it as a good omen now!) and Ropley put us in to bat first. Dani and Maya opened and had a good partnership, lasting into the 12th over together and scoring 69 runs, until Maya was caught out. In came Shayna but was caught with a surprise LBW, c’est la vie, or le cricket I guess actually! Lauren, Florie and Emily followed, Emily getting a great triple of 4s to increase the score to 139 for the 20 overs. Dani did ok again, only 74 this week 😊
A rather lovely tea was supplied thanks to Jai (and Stacey bringing it ) and Vicky and Marie setting up, thanks all. Following scone and jam it was a bit of a worry that our team would not be physically able to run for fielding but all was well.
Ropley went in to bat and Emily and Liv opened the bowling. First wicket went as a catch to Dani, bowled by Emily, very nice. Evie tried for a high speed catch, managed to not catch but injure her finger (we discovered on the way home), all in the name of cricket – it’s her left hand so all is fine! Next Shayna did her thing and took 3 more. Another wicket went to Liv bowling out their main player and 1 for Rosie as well. Maya ran out their final player and hey presto, another victory for Dani’s Diamonds! We scored 139 and won by 12 runs (I think that is how it is described, they got 127 in the 20 overs, I’m still learning the lingo!).
Well done girls as ever, another fantastic result and a great match played by all in the glorious sunshine!
